Semi-Formal Planting Design
Real images and dimensions of a property, inspiration photos and a “wants and needs” list was provided prior to beginning the project. Students were able to create a planting design as they wished, keeping the client in mind. This was the first full application of graphics, leaders and lettering on a design. (See planting and materials selection document below.)

Graphics Exercise
Students were given a basic planting design and asked to draw graphics using learned techniques, principles and horticultural knowledge.

Backwards Design Exercise Pt I
Students were provided a faded image of a front yard and asked to draw shapes indicating the layers and dimensions envisioned for the space.

Backwards Design Exercise Pt II
The second steph in this exercise included applying graphcs to both aerial and street-level views.
